Project Leader at the Institute of Quantum Technologies, German Aerospace Center (DLR)
Albert Roura is a project leader at the DLR Institute of Quantum Technologies. He is currently co-chairing the advisory group for Physical Sciences of the European Space Agency (ESA) and is an ex officio member of ESA’s Space Science Advisory Committee. He is also the co-leader of the working group on “Gravitational Quantum Physics and Metrology” of the EU COST Action Relativistic Quantum Information.
His research interests and previous research experience span a wide range of topics including non-equilibrium quantum field theory, open quantum systems, cosmology and black hole physics. In recent years the main research areas in which he has been more actively involved are:
- ultracold atoms and Bose-Einstein condensates in microgravity
- atom interferometry
- atomic clocks
- classical and quantum gravity
- relativistic quantum information and space quantum links
