{"id":1056,"date":"2024-07-18T18:45:27","date_gmt":"2024-07-18T18:45:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.matterwaveoptics.eu\/FOMO2024\/?p=1056"},"modified":"2024-09-09T13:59:10","modified_gmt":"2024-09-09T13:59:10","slug":"hammerer-klemens-measuring-tidal-phases-and-enhancing-precision-with-squeezing-techniques","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matterwaveoptics.eu\/FOMO2024\/hammerer-klemens-measuring-tidal-phases-and-enhancing-precision-with-squeezing-techniques\/","title":{"rendered":"HAMMERER, KLEMENS: Measuring Tidal Phases and Enhancing Precision with Squeezing Techniques"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this talk,\u00a0I will\u00a0explore advancements in light pulse atomic interferometry, focusing on novel geometries\u00a0for measuring\u00a0\u2018tidal phases\u2019\u00a0in long baseline atom interferometers\u00a0(IF)\u00a0and\u00a0on the prospects and challenges for achieving enhancements using squeezed states of atoms.\u00a0First,\u00a0I will discuss an\u00a0IF\u00a0geometry\u00a0which is\u00a0exceptionally sensitive to\u00a0tidal\u00a0gravitational\u00a0phases,based on a differential signal of a Mach-Zehnder and a co-located symmetric double-diffraction IF.\u00a0This geometry\u00a0holds promise for measuring\u00a0gravity gradients\u00a0and spacetime curvature\u00a0with high-resolution, as will be illustrated in detail on the basis of the\u00a0VLBAI facility in Hannover.\u00a0Next,\u00a0I will also discuss\u00a0challenges in\u00a0squeezing enhanced\u00a0atom interferometry related to losses and inefficiencies in light pulse operations.\u00a0Based on comprehensive modelling of squeezed states of atoms, accounting for finite momentum width, and realistic scattering matrices of IFs based on Bragg diffraction, we evaluate the expected sensitivity enhancement. Our analysis\u00a0reveal\u00a0optimal pulse parameters, demonstrating that proper pulse design is crucial for achieving optimal performance, especially when using entangled states.
