Traveling Information
NOTE: The conference and the summer school are in different places. The conference is much closer to Chania Airport (CHQ), whereas the summer school is much closer to Heraklion Airport (HER). There is a bus from Heraklion to Chania, which takes about 2 1/2h.
To Crete by plane
There are two main carriers to Crete from Athens: Aegean Air and Olympic Airlines. In the summer there are also a number of international flights to Heraklion.
For the summer school, you should travel to Heraklion airport, from where we will provide a shuttle service from the Heraklion airport to the summer school and later on to the conference.
For the conference, Chania airport is most convenient. We will provide shuttles (taxis) from there to the conference center. If you do not find conveninet tickets anymore, you will have to fly to Heraklion, from where we will provide two mini-busses to the conference center. However, once an hour there is also a rather convenient regular bus, which departs from the central bus station (10 min from the airport).

To Crete by boat
There are ferries between Athens (Piraeus) and Heraklion and Chania: Minoan, Super fast and ANEK. Online booking of tickets is possible directly or via all ferries.
Around Crete
Transport to and from the airport is available. Please inform fomo2014matterwaveoptics.eu of your arrival times.
If you would like to spend some more time to travel around Crete, you can either take the buses, or rent a car. If you mention that you attend FOMO, you will get a 10% discount here (prices from 120EU for one week).
